PDC Masters Places still on offer

THE battle for places in the PDC's new event, The Masters, will conclude this weekend with the Players Championship double-header in Killarney.
The Masters, to be played at the Royal Highland Centre from November 1-3, live on ITV Sport, will see the top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit qualify to compete in the inaugural tournament.

With £100,000 prize money up for grabs during the weekend in Killarney, including a £10,000 first prize on each day, four players will have a chance to force their way into the world's top 16 this weekend, led by Gary Anderson.

Anderson, Ronnie Baxter, Paul Nicholson and Brendan Dolan could all move into the top 16 by winning one, or both, of the Players Championship events this weekend.

The tournament has received a further boost with the continued progression of Peter Wright, a Scottish World Cup of Darts representative in 2012 who has moved up to 16th in the world rankings following the partypoker.com World Grand Prix.

Wright and Terry Jenkins are the only players who could miss out on The Masters should their rivals enjoy a successful visit to Killarney, with the world's top 14 now secure of their places in Edinburgh.

The Masters will feature a £160,000 prize fund, with £50,000 to the winner. The first round, featuring the 16 players facing off in a bracket format, will be played on Friday November 1 (6.45pm).

The Quarter-Finals will take place on Saturday November 2 (6.45pm), with the Semi-Finals and Final on Sunday November 3 (6.45pm).

Due to an unavoidable clash of The Masters with the two PDC ProTour events in Wigan on November 2-3, players competing in Edinburgh will not be able to enter the Players Championship tournaments as well on that weekend.
