Young Seals NACT Glory

DARIN YOUNG has won through an eighth appearance in the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship, after topping the PDC North American Championship Tour rankings by sharing wins with Chris White on the final double-header weekend of the year.
The left-hander's consistency across the year's tournaments continued as he reached the Event Seven semi-finals in Sacramento on Saturday before winning Sunday's Event Eight, claiming his first win of 2013 but ending a strong season at the top of the Order of Merit.

Saturday's opening event of the double-header saw California-based White take victory on home soil, defeating Canadian youngster Shaun Narain in the final.

He dropped only two legs in wins over Alex Taber, Ron Colvard and Cory Tkach, before defeating Larry Butler 6-4 in the semi-finals, after the former World Matchplay champion came back from 5-0 down to trail just 5-4 at one stage.

Narain had knocked out Young 6-2 in the semi-finals, and came from 2-0 down in the final to level at two-all, hitting a 180 in getting his challenge up and running in leg three.

White landed 180s in two of the next three legs as he moved 5-2 up, and though Narain won the eighth to keep his hopes alive, White finished 40 to seal a 6-3 triumph.

Narain gained revenge with a 6-3 quarter-final win over White in Sunday's Event Eight, before he was defeated by the same scoreline by Young in a see-saw semi-final, which saw him come from 3-0 down to level before the left-hander pulled away.

Wins for Bernie Miller over Anthony Rohlfing, Nico DePaynos and Dan Olson saw him reach the semi-finals, where he defeated Cory Tkach 6-4 to reach the final.

Young took the final's opening two legs before Miller, aided by a pair of 180s, hit back to level.

After Young finished 92 for a 3-2 lead, Miller levelled and then broke to put himself ahead for the first time, but finishes of 72 and 76 from the left-hander moved him 5-4 up before he broke throw once more to seal the win.

The victory means that Young, as the PDC North American Championship Tour winner, progresses to compete in the first round of the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace in December as one of the event's International Qualifiers.
